Wanda Faye Keeler-Scott

Wanda Faye Keeler-Scott was born February 19, 1933 in Clearview, Oklahoma. Wanda was the eleventh of eighteen children born to Joseph and Rebecca Marks. She is the granddaughter of the late Dollie Golden and Ashford Miner of Clearview, Oklahoma.

Wanda attended school in Clearview and moved to Wichita, Kansas when she reached adulthood. There she met and married Edgar W. Keeler. To this loving union, they were blessed with six children and expanded the family by adopting one more child.

Wanda was saved at an early young age. She was a longtime member of Faith Mission COGIC, Wichita, KS. Later, she served as first lady with the late Elder Edgar W. Keeler at Friendship COGIC, Winfield, Ks, and Mount Zion COGIC, in Wichita, Ks. In later years she joined First Church of God in Christ in Wichita, Ks and remained under the leadership of Elder Crowley until her home going on December 28, 2020.

Wanda spent most of her time teaching, raising children; as well as, sewing, cooking, canning, and baking cakes. She looked forward to gatherings with family and friends during her time with us.

Wanda was involved with children education, consulting and advocating for equality, with the Wichita BOE regarding busing of minority children across town. She was also active in Jail and Prison Ministry ushering many souls to Christ. One of her greatest pride and joys was having all her children with her.

Wanda is preceded in death by her husbands, Elder Edgar W. Keeler in 1976 and Deacon Benjamin Scott in 1994, parents; Joseph and Rebecca Marks, brothers; Lonnie Marks, Joseph Marks, Jimmy Marks; sisters Orea Tyler, Addie Lewis, Merilene Edwards and Imogene Jordan, and grandson; Michael Keeler.

Wanda is survived by her children, Edgar L. Keeler (Nadia), Gary E. Keeler (Pilar), Lolita M. Keeler Fowler, Gerald D. Keeler (Josie), Anita Keeler Brown (Chris), Kathy K. Shepherd, and Sham D. Keeler (Aaliyah); brothers; Derea Marks and Otis Marks, sisters; Martha Bradley, Sylvia Selmon (Chester), Helen Sparks, Barbara Lorance (Kevin), and Reba Newman; 24 grandchildren, 47 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.
