Wanda Jean (Skaggs) McCarty, 91, longtime Seminole, Oklahoma resident, passed away from Covid-19 complications on January 15, 2021 in Seminole, Oklahoma. She was born on September 9, 1929, in Gerty, Oklahoma to Willie and Victoria (Jackson) Skaggs. Wanda grew up in Gerty, Oklahoma, and moved to Seminole in 1996.

Wanda married Otto W. Lewis on May 1, 1947 in Gerty following Otto’s return from active duty in World War II. They had three children, Phillip Charles Lewis, Marilyn Jane Lewis, and Doris Gail Lewis, before his death in 1957.

Wanda was a member of the Church of Christ in Seminole for many years.

Wanda is survived by her son Phillip Charles Lewis of Pauls Valley and her daughter Marilyn Jane (Lewis) Cory of Fort Gibson; her grandchildren Barbara (Hadley) Nadeau, Earlsboro, Lanny Lewis, Shawnee, Kevin Davis, Fort Gibson, and Kerry Davis, Mounds View, Minnesota; plus numerous great and great-great-grandchildren.

Wanda was preceded in her death by her daughter Doris Gail (Lewis) Hadley; her brother Donald Skaggs and her sister Edwina (Skaggs) Tisher.

Memorial services will be held at a later date. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma.
