Years ago I was involved in a meeting to plan a parenting seminar.
Maybe it is the weather that is doing it, but I can’t seem to get all warmed up this spring. The news last week says we are a full and complete whole degree Fahrenheit warmer compared to just last year but I have to go by what is happening now. All respect to Al Gore, I am cold.
We Oklahomans recall with pride the fact that noted humorist Will Rogers was from the Sooner State and didn’t mind telling about his heritage to people in Hollywood, Washington DC, the South, overseas and any other place where people would listen.

Our family traveled a lot years ago, singing on Sunday morning in churches in another states. Back in those days, when you attended church you were expected to dress more formally than is accepted today.
The year was 1974 and I was a freshman in college. A year full of new experiences, busy schedules, and lots of friends. Amidst all the busyness I still made time to write a letter to my Mom and Dad several times a week. Mom and I had a very close relationship.

Many years ago, my wife and I decided to take a vacation to Red River, New Mexico and camp out in the mountains.
The historic Okmulgee Colored Hospital has undergone amazing progress in recent years. Previously, the Oklahoma Heritage Preservation Grant Program in 2021 awarded “Landmark for all Generations, Inc.
I get all my health care up at the VA in Oklahoma City but it’s when I am standing in a line or sitting in a waiting room that I find out a lot of stuff. Last week, in a slow line, I noticed this red-haired guy in front of me, turning around and eyeing the crowd preparing to make a speech.
One of the more popular expressions knocked around by people in my age group (OLD!!) is “used to be.”
That is certainly true of our mothers, past and present.
