    As a longtime English teacher (no math or foreign languages for me), I have long had a good “ear” to hear certainly words pronounced correctly. I have spent two years in the South (Nashville, TN) and one year in the FAR East (Philippine Islands) but the rest of my time has been in Oklahoma.

    A first-grade school teacher had 25 students in her class. She presented each child in her classroom the first half of a well-known proverb and asked them to come up with the remainder of the proverb. It’s hard to believe these were actually done by first graders. Their insight may surprise you.

    Nancy Pelosi has now and officially sent the articles of impeachment over to the US Senate from her little office down the hall. Just now? And why the delay? Some think she took them home with her and simply mislaid them. Stuff like that happens to document me all the time so it’s plausible.

    A few days after Christmas I went to see my grandkids in Shawnee. When I went into the front room they had sheets over chairs and the divan and made a fort. It brought back a lot of memories. They were not on a telephone or computer but using their imagination and having a great time.

    This is one of the best explanations of why God allows pain and suffering that I have ever heard. And it’s true. A man went to a barbershop to have his hair cut and his beard trimmed. As the barber began to work, they began to have a good conversation.

    Letter to the Editor regarding Redskin Theater

    Dear Editor, I would like to share some information regarding the Redskin Theater series that was recently published in your newspaper. The last article of the series was very well written. It truly was a tribute to the Duncans.

    Dr. Tom Osborn stopped by the office and we had a good visit. He is greatly missed at our hospital but he is really enjoying retirement . . . Some of our “old timers” may remember my Aunt and Uncle Bill and JoAnn Vanhooser Robinson. They graduated from Holdenville in 1948.

    Who Makes Christmas?

    As we approach Christmas day let’s take a moment to salute the grand women of Christmas. My wife knocks herself out preparing for events like Thanksgiving and Christmas. She started preparing the Thanksgiving meal two weeks in advance and for sure we had a feast.
