Winter is here and with it comes the cold days and times that keep us indoors but also, winter brings us some good days, not so cold or windy. For hunters this may well be the best time of the year.

There’s nothing bigger than football during Thanksgiving. Usually, it’s the guys getting another weekly fix with top-notch college games and a whole weekend of NFL games.
Please take the time during this Thanksgiving week to read the following letter from Rev. Chuck Swindoll.
My love affair with Thanksgiving takes me all the way back to my boyhood days. I had just turned 10 years of age and was in fifth grade at Southmayd Elementary School in East Houston.
Nope. Nothing about the impeachment hearings today.
I think that the big news networks have wallowed in it long enough and they (CNN and Fox) can do this adventure without me.
A quick tour of some of our Southern neighbors reveals some interesting ideas.
ALABAMA. A group of Alabama friends went deer hunting and paired off in twos for the day. That night, one of the hunters returned alone, staggering under the weight of an eight-point buck.

And last of all my favorite story of the week….
A husband and wife who own a circus walk into and adoption agency looking to adopt a child.” “Are you sure the circus is the best place for a child?” asks the social worker.
1. They give without worrying about what’s left.
2. They’ve learned that joy comes from giving more away than from hoarding more for themselves.
3. They know that “God loves a cheerful giver”…not a sullen, compliant donator.

I know that we have way too many holidays, no matter what the school kids say as they recuperate from Fall Break, look ahead to Thanksgiving and fully chill out with two weeks off during the Christmas holidays.
But the
wise people (joke!) who run our Country in Washington are missing the boat.
Merle Lynnwood Stripling, one of Tulsa’s original African American firefighters and Tulsa’s first black district fire chief was born July 4, 1930 in Clearview, Oklahoma.
Graduating in 1949 from Clearview High School, Stripling moved from Clearview to Tulsa, where he lived the rest of his life.
Much has been said about the genius Albert Einstein, the great physicist, inventor, smart person, etc, but also considered a bit eccentric and sometimes forgetful.
Einstein was once traveling from Princeton on a train when the conductor came down the aisle, punching the tickets of every passenger.
