Mike Schmitt is not only my friend but is an amazing gentleman to visit with. His life in professional hockey is a fascinating story. Today we will continue sharing some of that story, which is found in his soon to be published book, A Dream Come True.

A Saturday afternoon noodling trip to the South Canadian River for two local residents ended with one dead and his companion placed into the Pontotoc County Detention Center, charged with First Degree Murder.

The Red Hat Ladies traveled to Tecumseh to The Farmer’s Daughters Market. There were only four of us that went, so we had a lovely time just sitting there visiting. We rarely get to see one another.

The Yeager school reunion was great! When most of us think about Yeager, we think about Paul and Melba Pruitt Dean.They were raised there, went to school there and still live there.They were two of the greatest athletes to ever graduate from Yeager School.

Will Kates was selected to the Middle West All-State Baseball Team. Will recently graduated from Newcastle High School in Newcastle, OK. He will be continuing his education at Northwestern Oklahoma State University in Alva, OK in the fall on a baseball and academic scholarship.

The headline caught my eye: “The Number 1 skill that sets mentally strong kids apart from ‘those who give up’ can be taught." I wondered, “What is it?”. Riding a bike? Speaking in public?Turns out it’s not a “skill”—at least not the way I thought of skills. It’s an outlook.

Nicholas Jones, District Conservationist of Okemah, Oklahoma spearheaded a group of conservationists to tour the towns of Clearview and Boley. Their first stop was in Boley, where they visited with historian Henrietta Hicks and MayorFrancis Shelton.

The next scheduled town meeting is July 12 th at 5:00 p.m. at the Main Street Community Building. All are invited to attend. Sympathy is extended to the Horn-Toney family upon the death of Elouise Toney.

Clearview citizens enjoyed a day of celebrating the 4 th of July. Citizens and guests celebrated with a blast of fireworks, food, and games on Saturday before the 4 th .
