    Wetumka Water/Sewer bills going up in August

    A regular meeting of the Wetumka City Council was held on Monday, July 12, 2021. Council members present were and Richard Roush, Josh Howk, and Jason Lee. Sherry Smith, city manager, Norma Marshall, mayor and Garret Eller, City Attorney were also present. Donna Dyer was absent.

    Preliminary hearing today for former police officer

    Former Wetumka police department employee Zulema Ramirez had her preliminary hearing conference this morning. Ramirez is charged with the following three counts: Count 1 – Count as Filed: DU8I, UNLAWFUL POSSESSION OF CD WITH INTENT TO DISTRIBUTE – MARIJUANA, in violation of 63 O.S. 2-401-2-420.

    JUDGE ROBERT SPRADLIN was honored at the recent City Council meeting for 44 years of service as Municipal Judge for the City of Wetumka. RICK GRIGGS accepted a plaque on behalf of the Wetumka Fire Department for 100 years of continuous membership with the Oklahoma State Firefighters Association.

    Public Meeting on McGirt Law

    Their will be a public meeting Thursday evening, August 5, 2021 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. to discuss the McGirt Law. The Creek Nation Chief, Assistant Chief and Legal Counsel will be there to discuss the law and take questions.
