    Correction on Shirley Nero article from 04-15

    Last week, we reported that Shirley Ballard Nero was elected as Vice-President of the Oklahoma Historical Society Board, which was actually a story from last year. We read it in our Chronicles of Oklahoma book and just didn’t realize it was from 2020.

    There will be a Golden Family Reunion planning meeting on May 31st at 1:00 p.m. at the school pavilion. The Town Community Improvement Committee met this week to update the Five-Year Community Improvement Plan.

    The Studio 102 Recital was held on April 17 in Wewoka. The girls from Wetumka performed a Ballet number and a Jazz number. These beautiful little ladies are Ellie Truitt and Abby Mouser. Abby also had a clogging performance.

    Dustin City-Wide Cleanup May 1

    The Dustin Activities Committee will be holding a City-Wide Trash Pick-up on Sat. May 1st from 10:00am- 12:00 pm with a luncheon to follow for all volunteers. There will be safety vests, gloves and trash bags provided by ODOT. All ages are welcome to participate in this event. The more the merrier!

    Shirley Nero new State Historical Society Vice-President

    OKLAHOMA CITY — The Oklahoma Historical Society (OHS) Board of Directors elected Dr. Deena Fisher of Woodward as its new president at its meeting on May 20, 2020. In addition, the board elected Shirley Nero of Clearview as vice president and Karen Keith of Tulsa as treasurer.

    Jacksons ruling to be delivered Friday morning 8:30a.m.

    The preliminary hearing in the sex crimes case of James and Rebecca Jackson was held on Friday, April 2 in Wewoka. District Attorney Paul Smith said in a press release that scheduling conflicts necessitated the bearing be held in Seminole County by agreement.

    Calvin Election Results Challenged

    A petition alleging irregularities in the Statutory Municipal General Election for Town of Calvin Board of Trustees has been filed with the Secretary of the County Election Board, by candidate Mike Troup, challenging the announced results of the election held on April 6, 2021.
