Middle Creek Church began five miles southeast of the present site at Lentie Bruner’s place. It is said that a group from Wessqufkee Church established a mission station. The mission grew so much that the people organized a church. The Church was called Weogofkochee.

The Oklahoma African American Educators Hall of Fame, Inc. offers a scholarship generously donated by Mr. and Mrs. William “Bill” Ford of Shawnee, Oklahoma. Mr. Ford played football under coach Watson at Shawnee High School. Coach Watson had a major impact on the life and success of Mr.

Aaliyah Drake is a senior at Weleetka High School who will graduate in May. She has main tained a 3.94 G P A during her four years in high school. Aaliyah participates in varsity basketball, track, Fellow ship of Christian Athletes, Student Council, and Future Farmers of America.

Eliya Jennings is a senior at Choctaw High School who will graduate in May. She has maintained a 4.0 GPA during her four years at CHS. She’s concurrently enrolled at Rose State College in Midwest City, Oklahoma.

CARSON SOLDIER IS REPORTED AS MISSING IN WAR A casualty list issued today by the department of defense reported Pfc. Harper Smith, son of Mrs. Nellie Smith, who lives in the Carson community, as missing in action in Korea. The missing GI was stationed in Japan before the outbreak of war in Korea.

The FBI and the Hughes County Sheriff’s Department arrested former Wetumka Mayor James Jackson Thursday morning, March 26, at his Main Street residence. Jackson is being charged with two counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse of a minor in the state of Illinois.

Mrs. Cleo Marie Le-Vally, daughter of the late William H. Emerson and Ella Rhea Pegg Emerson, was born on December 31, 1922, in Leader, Oklahoma. When she was 3 years old, her family moved to a large farm outside of Allen, Oklahoma.

There were 7 Moon domino players Monday night at the Nazarene Fellowship Hall. It begins with the ladies bringing their sandwiches, chips, etc. and enjoying a fellowship meal and then “let the games begin”!

District 2nd graders had a great time at our annual Scratch ‘n Patch Hospital event last week! They learned how a hospital experience works from admitting to treatment to payment. The activity hosts 300-400 students each year, giving them a glimpse into careers in the medical field.
