In answer to a letter to the editor by Celia Peixotto, I would like to offer my own few words. In her letter, Ms. Peixotto challenges the series by insisting the Redskin was not the Duncans’ “newborn baby”. This strikes at the heart of the article, which centers around the issue of motivation.

The Creek Nation Charter Bus will be leaving from the Wetumka Indian Community Center on February 8, 2020 at 8:00 a.m. to take citizens to attend the Euchee Butterfly Farm Free Training Event, which will be held at the Euchee Butterfly Farm in Bixby, Oklahoma.

A Thlopthlocco (Creek) Tribal Town Citizen’s meeting has been scheduled for Saturday February 15th at 4pm at the Alabama Quassarte Community Building. Family and friends are welcome and potluck is encouraged.

We had a great visit with Ruth Reich this past week. She has a way of brightening everyone’s day. Rush is looking for information about the early days of Moss history. Moss will soon be celebrating their 100th year. Ruth is trying to put a story together about this special event.

Well, as usual, this reporter is a bit behind. To catch-up I must go back to October, 2018. We met at Shirley Hardwick’s for “home made” pizza. It was “linguisa” a Portuguese sausage which most of us had never tasted. Everyone said it was very good.

“Momentary panic hit me when I looked out the plane window and saw only water,” Sheryl Jaggars said. “I knew we had begun our descent into Buckland, Alaska, but there didn’t seem to be a landing strip. Finally, the wheels hit the ground and I relaxed the hold I had on my baby girl.

Many visitors from Boley, Weleetka, Slick, Okemah, Okmulgee, Oklahoma City, Warrior, Glenpool, joined in the celebration of Martin Luther King Jr.’s celebration at The Clearview Community Center. Bruce Fisher, the son of Ada Lois Sipuel Fisher, served as guest speaker of the day.

Asking for continued prayer for Christopher Stripling, Elder L. C. Carson. Otis Davis, Linwood Lambert, Marguerite French, Billy Walker, Alpheus and Dorothy Grundy. Marjorie Plunkett was taken to the hospital this week because of a breathing problem. She is home now but in need of prayers.

Weleetka Elementary School Principal, Courtney Hare, participated in the Alpha Plus 2019-20 Principal’s Academy held on Dec. 12 I Oklahoma City.
