Major Clemon “Doc” Alford, born March 1880 in Mississippi, moved to Indian Territory where he lived with his sister Rosie Gamble of Clearview. He later attended Meharry Medical College where he earned his Doctor of Pharmacology in 1908.

Donnie and Shirley Nero entertained guess over the holidays from out of state. Gerald Morris and friend Dion from Kansas City, Mo. and Clair and Susanne Harmony from Organ. The Harmony’s are the grandparents of Berlin who is the granddaughter of Donnie and Shirley.

Denny and Carolyn Boren, were married 50 years ago on January 1, 1970 at the home of Carolyn’s parents, J.B. and Darlene Lowe of Calvin. The weather had turned extremely cold and icy and snowy that week. There was no electricity for a week because of the terrible weather.

The Wetumka City Council held their regular scheduled meeting on Thursday December 12th . Those council members present included June Fixico, Norma Marshall, Rebecca Jackson, and Randy Hinkley. Others present included Mayor Jackson and John Baca. The minutes from the previous meeting were approved.
