Wetumka council tackles full agenda

In a very lengthy city council meeting on Monday night, there were many announcements were made. Mayor Jackson addressedcityemployees’ speeding and violating traffic laws. Mayor Jackson was personally reprimanded recently and all employees have been warned and told to obey all traffic laws.

Hughes County EMS receives Gold Plus Award

The Hughes County EMS was recently presented the American Heart Association’s Mission Lifeline Gold Plus Award for outstanding heart attack care. They previously were awarded the Silver Plus in 2017 and Gold Plus in 2018 making this their third award.

Holdenville Game Night News

We had 8 “Moon” domino players Monday night at the Nazarene Fellowship Hall.  At table #1 Selma Fitzhugh and Lynn Marquis played against Mary Wagner and Arjean Williams.  Selma and Lynn won 4 games including Selma “Tiddled” twice and shot the Moon once.  She tiddled one other time, but only bid 7.

Kristi Tiger graduates from Fort Lewis College

DURANGO, CO (07/31/2019)-- Kristi Tiger, of Wetumka, OK, graduated from Fort Lewis College in April 2019. Tiger graduated with a degree in Biology. More than 400 students participated in the Spring Commencement ceremony.

Marguerite French celebrates 103rd Birthday

On Sunday, August 18, 2019, Marguerite French became 103 years old. She is the oldest living citizen of Clearview, Oklahoma. (The oldest known living citizen of Clearview was Della Harris who lived to be an estimated 109 years old. She was born a slave and had no birth certificate.

Wes Watkins Technology Center Staff Visits Clearview

The Wes Watkins Technology Center of Wetumka, Oklahoma Superintendent Wade Walling wanted his staff to meet the communities they serve as part of their back to school staff development in-service program.

Oklahoma African American Educators Hall of Fame Meets

The Oklahoma African American Educators Hall of Fame, Inc. (OAAEHOF) met on October 10, 2019 at Langston University in the new Health Center. The board and committee met to discuss the 2019 induction ceremony which will be held at the Oklahoma History Center on September 27.

Service held for Marjorie Rae Crump ‘ ’

Marjorie Rae ‘Marge’ Crump passed away at herhome in Yeager, Oklahoma on Thursday, August 15, 2019, at the age of 77 years. Marge was the daughter of Robert Ray Ewen & Olive Jane (Perkins) Ewen, born on June 26, 1942, in Iola, Kansas.

Voter Registration Deadline is August 16th

Friday, August 16th, is the last day to apply for voter registration in order to be eligible to vote in the September 10th Special Holdenville Public School District I-35 Election, Hughes County Election Board Secretary Brandy Davis said today.
