The Wetumka City Council held a special meeting on Thursday April 18, 2019. It may have been the shortest meeting in the history of Wetumka lasting only about three minutes. The meeting was called to order by Councilman Rick Griggs who opened the meeting with an invocation and the flag salute.

The 10th Annual Native American Convocation will be held Sunday, April 28, 2019 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Holdenville Creek Indian Community Center. Everyone is invited to attend the event as we honor the graduating Native American seniors of the Class of 2019.

A special council meeting was called for by Wetumka Mayor James Jackson. The meeting was held on Wednesday evening, April 24, 2019 at 6:30p.m. at City Hall. Agenda included: Termination of City Mayor Establishing $17.25 hourly as City Manager pay. Hiring of temporary City Manager.

Lazarus C. Reed Jr. was born July 15, 1923 in Clearview, Oklahoma as the son of Lazarus C. Reed Sr. and Minnie Alma Bush. Minnie A. Bush died in 1927. Lazarus Jr. was reared in the home of Minnie’s sister, Lula Ellen Bush Mayberry.
