Please continue prayers for Christopher Stripling as he remains in the hospital. Goon Golden spent a week in the hospital but is home and improving. He is weak but said he is working on getting his strength back.
Happy birthday to Bri’Ann Bowie on Sunday, April 14. Bri’Ann celebrated her birthday after church at Shoney’s with her church family, family, and friends. She received plenty of gifts and enjoyed seeing all her special friends.
On Saturday, April 13, 2016, the Oklahoma Historical Society Black Heritage Committee traveled to Idabel, Oklahoma for their Quarterly meeting. Kenny Sivard, president of the Mc-Curtain County and Oklahoma Historical Society Board member invited the committee to meet at the Booker T.
Donavin Evans, representing the Okemah Middle School 7th Grade Boys at three recent track meets placed medaled in each of his three events. At the Luther Invitational Meet, he placed 1st in the 100-meter dash, 200-meter dash, and the long jump.
Over 65 guests, family members and friends enjoyed the musicians as they introduced and played their piano selections. After the performance, Mrs. Peel presented each student with a Dairy Queen gift card for all their hard work. Everyone enjoyed cookies and punch provided by the club.

On March 30, 2019 during the morning worship service, Calvary Baptist Church honored its military veterans with a Quilts of Valor presentation. Melba Cook, an avid quilter, made quilts to honor seven veterans. Each one had a patriotic theme and individual pattern.

The 17th annual Little Olympics, grade school track event started here in the latter 30’s, will be held at 8 p.m. Friday at the football stadium with all four grade schools participating.
