Martin Luther King Jr Day is a federal holiday held on the third Monday of January. It celebrates the life and achievements of Martin Luther King Jr, an influential American civil rights leader. January 15, 2019 marks the 90th birthday of Martin Luther King Jr.

Mark Maples of Burden served the county of Okfuskee as the Conservationist Director for many years. He has been instrumental in helping many farmers and ranchers in the area succeed in the betterment of their cash crops, animal ranching, and pasture improvement.

Gale Parker, the Company’s CEO and Owner started the business in 2004, after many years working in all facets of the industry. She realized through prior experience that there was a niche market, particularly the light industrial market, which held great opportunities in her community.

by John Bill Martin Boy, she sure has a sense of humor for an “older lady”. Hmm, what does THAT mean? Getting older can sometimes mean finding more funny things in life. After all, “I’ve paid my dues!” “I’ve raised my kids.” “I want to have fun.” Aging and getting older should be fun!

We had four faithful “Moon” domino players tonight!  Partners were: Cindy McDaniel and Rusty Jones and Sharon Dilday and Lynn Marquis.  Sharon shot the Moon three times and made it!  Wow!  What a great partner!  They won four games total.  Cindy and Rusty after much going in the circle won a game.

The Hughes County Retired Educators will meet on Monday, January 21st at 11:30 at the Holdenville Boomerang. Program will include Legislators and Legislation goals for the next year. All former school employees are invited. Contact Jo Dawna Smith @ 405-221-2290 if more information is needed.
