Josephine Powell
A memorial service will be held for Jose- phine Powell, 90, of Gerty on Friday, April 3 at 10:30am at the Richmond Avenue Free - will Baptist Church in Allen, OK. Mrs. Powell passed away March 30 at her home. She was born November 22, 1935, in Allen, OK to Ruben Edmond and Katie Lee (Moore) Huffstutlar. She married Orval Leon Powell on February 26, 1955, in Allen.
Mrs. Powell worked for Hewlett- Packard for many years before retiring and starting her own garment business. Mrs. Powell loved to visit with her family and friends.
She also loved reading, sewing and making beautiful quilts.
She was proceeded in death by her parents, husband, sisters Marie Ream, Althie Huffstutlar, Geneva Battershell, Anna Lee McKenzie, brothers Fred Huffstutlar, Donald Huffstutlar and Leon Huffstutlar.
Survivors include her two daughters, Pam Kanuch of Ada, Dawnette Hassler of Gerty, son Orval "Skip" Powell of Gerty, three grandchildren, TR Kanuch and wife Bran dy of Ada, Emily Buckingham and husband Daniel of Ft. Worth, TX and Neal Hassler of Gerty. Six great grandchildren, Shelby Year - gan (Destry), Drake Kanuch, Luke, Claire, Hazel and Max Buckingham and one great, great grandson Bro- dy Yeargan, one sister, Francine Treat and two brothers, Ruben Huffstutlar, Jr. and Frank Huffstutlar. She also had numerous nieces and nephews that she loved very much.
Pallbearers are TR Kanuch, Drake Kanuch, Neal Hassler, Destry Yeargan, Dan Buckingham and Luke Buckingham.
Graveside services will follow at the Gerty Cemetery. The family suggests any donations go to the American Cancer Society or the charity of your choice.
