Oklahoma once seemingly held a monopoly on Tornado Season. When the first day of Spring became official in mid-March easy year, that was the signal for tornados to come sweeping down the plains.

The typical U.S. household headed by a person age 65 or older has a net worth 47 times greater than a household headed by someone under 35, according to an analysis of census data released Monday. You read it right, 47 times!!!

The majority of my family has always thought it would be appropriate to attract Martin birds to dwell near our houses. In addition to being aptly named, they are also very attractive to look at and supposedly possess supernatural powers when it comes to consuming mosquitoes.

The Interstate Highway system offers many advantages, mostly in the realm of arriving at your destination in less time. But for those of us who traveled on more traditional highways (and a few dirt roads), we miss the scenery, especially the Burma Shave signs.

It’s obvious I have absolutely too much time on my hands. At age 84, my usual springtime routine involves PA announcing baseball, softball and track for Carl Albert, Choctaw and Harrah, all the while taking notes in my spare time to write a sports story for a variety of newspapers.

My good friend Al Wilburn has been through the wars with me the past few years and never fails to lift my spirits with some sage advice, even though he is MUCH younger than I. I am taking the liberty of sharing some of his wealth of knowledge with you.
