The typical U.S. household headed by a person age 65 or older has a net worth 47 times greater than a household headed by someone under 35, according to an analysis of census data released Monday. You read it right, 47 times!!!

The majority of my family has always thought it would be appropriate to attract Martin birds to dwell near our houses. In addition to being aptly named, they are also very attractive to look at and supposedly possess supernatural powers when it comes to consuming mosquitoes.

School is definitely back in session and it is like no other school year we have ever known, but some things remain the same. Namely, the humorous (often) true things that kids say and they don’t even know they are funny. Examples: CHILDREN ARE QUICK TEACHER: Why are you late?

The Interstate Highway system offers many advantages, mostly in the realm of arriving at your destination in less time. But for those of us who traveled on more traditional highways (and a few dirt roads), we miss the scenery, especially the Burma Shave signs.

It’s obvious I have absolutely too much time on my hands. At age 84, my usual springtime routine involves PA announcing baseball, softball and track for Carl Albert, Choctaw and Harrah, all the while taking notes in my spare time to write a sports story for a variety of newspapers.

My good friend Al Wilburn has been through the wars with me the past few years and never fails to lift my spirits with some sage advice, even though he is MUCH younger than I. I am taking the liberty of sharing some of his wealth of knowledge with you.

Friday the 13 th was last month but there was enough bad luck going around, so I decided to put it off a month, but the bewitching atmosphere of that special occasion lingers on. Here’s a list of a few who didn’t escape the curse. 1.WILL THE REAL DUMMY PLEASE STAND UP?

Since I am not in the classroom anymore, I don’t have any reason to dread, fear, acknowledge or otherwise survive April Fool’s Day. It just simply isn’t on my busy retired schedule this year. It’s pretty profound.
