Our family mourns the loss of our dear and beloved Frenchie Clara Alford. Frenchie passed away on July 23, 2022, at her home in Owasso, Oklahoma, after a heroic battle with cancer. Frenchie was born November 25, 1938, in Bearden, Oklahoma and was 83 years old at her passing.

Frenchie was the daughter of Ethel Patton-Alford & Louis Milton Alford, Sr.; Granddaughter of Lydia Thibodeaux-Alford & James Willie Alford; and Great-Granddaughter of Martha Griffiths-Alford & Lafayette “Fate” Alford.

Frenchie was preceded in death by her parents, Ethel Alford & Louis Milton Alford; sons, Orlando Dewayne White and Andre Bernard White; sisters, Lydia “Angie” Alford and Lisa Alford; and brother, Louis Milton Alford, Jr.

Frenchie is survived by her daughter Evetta White; step-daughter, Cynthia Prince-Hall; sisters, Lurra Mae Calahan, Joyce Getum, and Nancy Winter; brother, Donnell Alford, Sr; grandchildren, Elle Black, Kasandra White, Thomas Routt III, Andre White II, PK White, Benida White, Niles White, and Alexandria White; great-granddaughter and caregiver, Storm White-Blount, greatgrandchildren, Thomas Routt IV, Alexander Routt, Cherish Routt, Orlando Routt, Dearius Hall, and La’Keith Hall; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

Frenchie lived her life as a storyteller, an educator, a caregiver, a friend, and a great woman of faith. All who knew her were captured by her intelligence, strong will, determination, and fierce spirit. In a time of great opposition, Frenchie was the first in her line of three generations to complete her bachelor and master’s degree. She will be remembered as a family matriarch - setting and paving the way for generations to come, a highly gifted and favored educator, a dedicated participant in the Alford Family Reunion, and a beloved community and church-family member.
