Jerry Lee Smith passed away Monday, June 5, 2023 in Holdenville, Oklahoma at the age of 75.

Jerry was born March 29, 1948 in Ardmore, Oklahoma to Winifred Gene Smith and Clara Mae (Petty) Smith. Jerry graduated from Ardmore High School. He received his Bachelor’s Degree from East Central University. Jerry continued his education by attending the Denver School of Art, Santa Fe School of Arts and the University of Oklahoma.

Jerry married Jo Dawna Welch August 3, 1974 at Barnard Memorial United Methodist Church in Holdenville, Oklahoma. He was a high school teacher and was a member of OEA. Jerry served in Vietnam in the U.S. Navy. He enjoyed drawing, painting, horses and cattle. Jerry loved spending time with his grandchildren, the NY Yankees and OU sports. He was a member of the Holdenville American Legion, Masons, and active in the Roundup Club. Jerry was a member of the Barnard Memorial United Methodist Church.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers Tommy Smith and Lanny Smith; and good friend, Cris Arias.

He is survived by his wife, Jo Dawna of the home; Justin Levi Smith and wife Misty of Holdenville; grandchildren Jorja and Joby Smith; sister Deborah Kay Jamar and husband Jerry of Broken Arrow and brother Steve Smith and wife Angie of Ardmore. Jerry is also survived by numerous other relatives and friends.

Viewing will be Thursday, June 8, at Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home. Family will greet from 5:00pm-7:00pm.

Funeral service will be 10:00 A.M., Friday, June 9, at Barnard Memorial United Methodist Church with Pastor Kris Mayberry officiating. Interment will follow at Holdenville Cemetery.

Pallbearers are Steve Branscum, Nick Janes, Mike Patterson, Mike Jaggers and Brent McGee. Honorary pallbearers are Bill Johnson, Chuffy Harjo, Dean Goforth, Don Merrimen, Red Mayfield and Jim Salazer.

Services are under the direction of Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home, Holdenville, Oklahoma.
