    Filing Period Closes, Races in Holdenville, Calvin

    The filing period closed at 5:00 p.m. Wednesday for the upcoming city elections within the county. The only two cities that will have races are Holdenville and Calvin. All other elected officials are unopposed. Those filing for office in Holdenville were: City Clerk - Linda Ownbey.

    Mo and Mary Celebrate 70th Anniversary

    Elmo (Moe) and Mary Collins met on a bus leaving McAlester, fell in love, and were married on February 9, 1951 in Hartshorne, Oklahoma. Moe was a radioman in the U.S. Navy. Mary would join him in Groton, Connecticut where he was stationed. That began their life together in love.

    We received a call from former Wetumka resident Pauline Laneer. She recently celebrated her 102 nd birthday. She told Jumper that she is doing great. She remembered when Jumper and David (Ingram) had the lumber yard in Wetumka. Pauline is a unique lady and a dear friend.

    Senior Abigail Bellinger was crowned 2021 Wetumka Basketball Queen by King Brycen Travis, who is also a senior. Abby is the daughter of Curt and Misty Bellinger and the granddaughter of Gail and Gary Bolinger, Sue and Larry Berry and Jim Bellinger.
