Judy Tinker of Holdenville passed away in the Holdenville General Hospital on December 19, 2020 at the age of 74. Judy was born January 4, 1946 in McAlester Oklahoma to J. T. Heard and Ollie Evans Heard. Judy attended school in Stringtown, Oklahoma and graduated in 1964.

Lloyd Bryant Vance passed away Thursday, December 17, 2020, at Jack C Montgomery VA Medical Center in Muskogee, Oklahoma at the age of 90. Lloyd was born December 23, 1929 to Perry “Shorty” Alva Vance and Pearl Pauline (Montgomery) Vance.

Marsha Ann (Holman) VanHooser was born in Okemah, Oklahoma on August 27, 1948, to Ray and Mary Alice Holman and passed away on November 6, 2020, in Oklahoma City. Marsha was a lifelong resident of Okemah.

Henry James Gilmore of Waco, Texas was born on June 7, 1927. He passed away at the age of 93 on Tuesday, December 15, 2020, with his loving wife of 62 years, Lula, by his side. Henry was born in Aquilla, Texas to Cleveland Carvin Gilmore and Daisy O’Dell Gilmore.

A funeral service honoring and celebrating the life of John Thomas Vail was held Tuesday, October 27th , at the First Baptist Church of Glenpool with a committal immediately following the service at Bixby Cemetery. John Thomas Vail died in Tulsa on October 22, 2020 at the age of 76.

Judy Anne Stafford was born July 7, 1947 in Arch, Oklahoma to Josh Goddard and Lennie Goddard and passed from this life December 16, 2020 in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 74. Judy graduated from Haileyville, Oklahoma. She earned a master’s degree from East Central University in Ada, Oklahoma.

(Durant, OK) By all accounts, 2020 has been an incredibly challenging year for all of us. As we turn another page on the calendar and look toward Christmas, many of us are starting to look forward to seeing friends and family (albeit in a socially-distanced, masked and hand-sanitized sort of way).

Twenty-nine Seminole State College students were inducted into the Alpha Theta Nu Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society for Two-Year Colleges on Oct. 20. The induction ceremony was conducted virtually, utilizing Zoom video conference software.
