Fireworks were going off everywhere in Clearview along the track and at private homes during the 4 th . Yards were filled with families grilling burgers and steaks and playing games. The Homer (Tab) and Joyce Barrett family and friends celebrated July 11th with even a greater fireworks display.

On Thursday, July 9, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that much of eastern Oklahoma is an Indian reservation. The decision could reshape criminal justice in the area by preventing state authorities from prosecuting Native Americans.

The Annual Hill Family Reunion was held at the Wetumka Lake June 20, 2020. We had a beautiful day for the celebration of many of our family members. We had forty-four family members there to celebrate. Lots of visiting and catching up from the last year. Who had more grandkids and great-grand kids.

Several Wetumka seniors were awarded scholarships at the recent graduation ceremony. The following is a list of the scholarships and who they were awarded to: Warren & Helen Beavers Family Scholarship: Shawna Mae Hudson, $1,000 per year for four years; Bailey Williams, $500.00.

Wetumka Public School in person enrollment will be July 20 through July 30 from 9:00-3:00 except for July 29 and it will be from 9:00-2:00. After July 30 parents will need to call the school to make an appointment to enroll their student.

Central Metal Finishing is hosting a blood drive in conjunction with the Oklahoma Blood Institute. The drive will be held on Wednesday, July 22 from 11 a.m to 2:30 p.m. at their main office. To schedule an appointment contact Jennifer Griffin at 580-399-8579.

I haven’t written too much about the Coronavirus. But it has turned my entire lifestyle upside down in more ways than one. Examples: 1. 7 weeks of isolation because I am in the highly susceptible age group 2. No sporting events to attend. 3. No sporting events to write about. 4. No laundry 5.

An early morning house fire at 1106 S. Oak, Holdenville, completely destroyed the residence. The Holdenville Fire Department responded quickly and extinguished the flames, but not before it had engulfed the home.
