The search for an escaped inmate from the Haskell County jail led to a pursuit into Hughes County Friday, but the suspect, Cody “Country” Cooper was able to escape on foot after crashing his vehicle near Dustin.

February marks the annual nationwide observance of African American history. Historian Dr. Carter G. Woodson founded, in 1926, Negro History Week to this occasion to highlight the history and contributions of African Americans.
