HALO busy transporting dogs in the Red Rocket

The Holdenville Animal Lovers Organization has been very Lucky to have a dog transport coordinator, Helena, in Key West, Florida who arranges for Holden-ville dogs to go to different rescues in Iowa and Kansas. Helena was formerly an Iowa native.

HALO Chili Supper and Silent Auction Great Success!

The Holdenville Animal Lover’s Organization recently held a Chili Supper and Silent Auction to help pay the veterinarian bill for the Holdenville Animal Shelter.  Chili, Desserts and auction items were all donated by local people and businesses to help make this a success.

Baked goods needed for upcoming sale

Security State Bank would like to have a benefit Bake Sale for HALO the Friday before Easter!  They will hold it at the bank from 10 am to 3 pm on Friday, April 19th -right before Easter.  We need everyone who can to bake something delicious for this event.

Sheriff needs help updating Cattle Log

The Hughes County Sheriff’s Office is trying to update the county wide “Cattle Log”. Due to the recent rise in “Cow Out’ calls coming into Central Dispatch we are trying to update our list of livestock owners within the county, do you own any livestock?

Holdenville Game Night News

We had 6 “Moon” players Monday night at the Nazarene Fellowship Hall.  We drew for partners and then the losers took turns letting the one keeping score take their place.  Confusing, not really!  Playing as partners were Sharon Dilday and Lynn Marquis.

Judith Ann Carter Horton

Former Guthrie Educator, Judith Ann Carter Horton, was inducted (posthumously) into the Oklahoma African American Educators, Inc., Hall of Fame on September 28, 2018 at the Oklahoma History Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Mrs. Horton was born in Wright City, Missouri on May 17, 1866.
