Hiram and Mary DeWitt’s Descendents Gather for Reunion
Three out of eleven children of Hiram Martin and Mary Melissa (Gann) DeWitt’s children were at Holdenville Lake for their annual Labor Day Reunion: Birdie Castoe’s family, Columbus Edward De-Witt’s family and Parlie Brunettie Wood’s family. Family came from Missouri, Arkansas and Oklahoma.
Holdenville designated “A Purple Heart City”
Holdenville has been approved and designated as “A Purple Heart City”.
In conjunction with that designation a large “VETERAN’S DAY IN THE PARK” will take place at the Holdenville City Park November 10th .
We will have additional information in next week’s Tribune and a schedule of events.
Business up in most of county in latest tax commission report
It was mostly good news for Hughes County in the latest report from the Oklahoma Tax Commission. Holdenville, Wetumka, Calvin, Stuart, Gerty, Dustin and Lamar all posted gains. Only Atwood and Yeager had a drop in revenue.

We had 10 ladies to come out to play “Moon” dominoes! Wasn’t that wonderful! Glenda Stinson left when she saw that we had 9 and went home only to get home and be called back as Dorothy Byers came and she needed a partner. So, Glenda came back and was so happy to have a partner as well!
