The Wetumka Chieftains got the 2018 football season off to a great start by winning on the road Friday night over the Depew Hornets, 40-20. The Chieftains traveled to Depew knowing they had their work cut out for them. “They were a pretty good bunch last year,” Wetumka head coach Darrell Reid said.

A Broken Arrow resident, Zachary Everrett Luko, 18, has been charged with one felony count of unlawful possession of controlled drug with intent to distribute and one felony count of acquiring proceeds from drug activity, according to documents filed in the District Court of Hughes County.

A two-vehicle accident claimed the life of a Wetumka man Tuesday evening, according to a report from the Oklahoma Highway Patrol. Christopher Baseman, 33, was pronounced at the scene one half mile east of Holdenville on US 270 at NS 376 Rd from injuries sustained in the collision.
